Mt. Charleston and Whitney Back to Back

Postby tinaballina » Tue Sep 15, 2009 9:56 am

hello everyone, i had a week off, much needed. Did Mt. Charleston in Nevada. then Whitney - regular trail last Thursday - ran into Torben and Doug, which was an awesome surprise. Then i did the mountaineers route Saturday-all i can say about that right now is WOW, took on another level of climbing.
I will do a tr as soon as i get through some of my emails here at work, taking a week off means you have that much more to return to.

Great job! I'll be interested to hear what you thought of the mountaineer's route!

never heard of doing back to back skylines, but im interested in doing so this fall, shall be quite the challenge.

I recently read someone hiking shasta six times in one day via avy. I thought that once was hard enough!

Only draw back is the money that you have to pay to take the tram back down, along with the taxi service.

Tina, in the second to last pictures I see a "Hand Signal" is that like the ones they use in the military to indicate "I'm ready to come up?"
Or does it mean "I'm not ready to come up yet?"

The thing is I've seen that before, it usually happens to me when I take a group of "Newbies" on a tough hike and as I get closer to the summit and I yell back to them "It's just a little bit mo" they all seem to be signalling me in the same way and I always forget to look up that hand signal - any help would be greatly appreciated  :D
