4 would be 32000 feet of gain. That's more than a little extreme. 3 though should be possible (but not easy) especially given your 2nd schedule which had not occurred to me. That's still 24000 feet of gain however.

i was thinking (wait was I really thinking of it?) of all 3 in a day, but I guess that's pushing it with the tram. zip, the one on friday sounds more feasible, though I might just stick with 2 since i don't know hwat 16,000 ft of gain feels like on my body!

p.s Tina I made a meetup page for the hike.

I will happily mail a $25 check to RMRU. Whether or not I can eat or drink anything, it will be worth it to say hi to Jim Bakos at Flat Rock 8)

Howdy Z-dude and Superman Rick :)

Is the RMRU online donation link working? I tried and got some sort of paypal error stating "This recipient is currently unable to receive money".

Hey Ze, like you I'm more interested in trying to get 3 within the same calendar day. I dunno, I guess the thought of that last tram departing at 9:45pm will be more than a little motivating. Just imagine using up every last bit of life in your body, crawling up the cement walkway on all fours, only to see the last tram leaving the station. Oh yeah, that would suck big time.

Actually the decision to go for it might not be that difficult. If we aren't ready to go by about 3:30pm then it is unlikely we'd make it up in time. So if it's 5pm then there's clearly no point in attempting a 3rd unless we just want the sublime pleasure of hiking back down after racking up 36 miles and 24000 feet of gain.

You know you want to Ze!

Wow! That's gotta be a first in the history of the internet! I wish my taxes would come back with that message!

Rick: I'm having trouble figuring what 16k and 25k will feel like...I haven't done that much before. Could be ugly. Hey, by the way, I look forward to meeting you on the 7th out there on the trail!

actually I thought the tram stopped earlier, like 8. 9:45 sounds better. the fact that I can decide based on the time down from the 2nd leaves it open for sure.

yeah zip I might be 'zapped' after the 2nd time up. who knows? i mean two is already basically a double - marathon.

3...well that would seriously be more than an Ironman triathalon!

Sigh!

Many apologies…

I was unaware that our PayPal wasn’t working.
I’ve notified all those responsible.

Because I have egg on my face, I’ll take any poster
here on the board at their word. You say you’ll
show up, I’ll plan to cook you breakfast.

We’ll deal with the donation thing later (I’m paying
for all the supplies out of my own pocket anyway, so
it really doesn’t matter…).

This is all about you guys and RMRU.

Jim: How early will you be at Flatrock? Is the donation for breakfast deal just for the back-to-back hikers? There might be tons of people on the trail that day doing various hikes including regular Skylines, up and down Skylines, back-to-back Skylines, C2C's, and C2C2C's as we've got it posted on Meetup.

Hey Kathy:

I’m planning to bivouac, on Indian/BLM ground,
just below Flatrock on Friday night (please don’t
ask why).

So I’ll be ready, early, for the first crowd that
shuffles in…

We should start a new thread for menu suggestions (?).

I’ve met you, Walt and Cy. Can’t wait to meet the
other weirdo’s (meant in the kindest term) on this
board…

Any and all are welcome for breakfast, I’ll haul several
packs of supplies if necessary. You can donate at the
breakfast site, or (pending our internet working) at our
website.

My intentions are twofold: One to raise some much
needed cash for our volunteer rescue team. Two: To
meet all these cool and crazy people who endeavor to
push the envelope of excellence.

Hike safe!
