First off, I think ya’ll are crazy. But, this is southern California,
so I suppose it’s expected…

Ellen’s right. I’ve proposed a venue to raise money for the team
on big Skyline weekends. So here’s my pitch:

If your doing Skyline on the 7th of November, and you send a
minimum donation of $25 to RMRU (marked Back to Back).
A handful of team members and I will cook you breakfast at
Flatrock. We’d need at least eight to commit to the fundraiser
(otherwise all you get is a power bar and a bottle of water!).

We can work the breakfast menu out -- suggestions that can be
cooked on a MSR stove are welcome (I cook a mean cinnamon
roll in my outback oven!)

You can donate to this online by simply going to www.rmru.org,
or click the link Perry’s put on each web page. PM me to verify
your donation.

Also, you don’t need to do the entire skyline (or the Back to Back)
to enjoy a hearty breakfast, all you have to do is donate $25 and
make it to Flatrock.

steve: can you send me that hammer nutrition link?

Jim: You're killin' me here. I'm checking my potential start times to see if I can be at Flat Rock at the right time. I may be passing by too early for it to work for me, but if I'm near Flat Rock at the right time, I'll definitely be in.

What time are you thinking?

What time will the first tram be up and the last tram down? I'm just trying to decide if 3 rounds is at all feasible.

Ok, nevermind. Checked the web site. Looks like first tram leaves at 8am. Last down at 9:45pm. I was hoping for a slightly wider spread (like an 11pm tram). Hmmmm.

If this breakfast fundraiser gets a good turnout, I’ll bivouac
at Flat Rock Friday night and be ready for the earliest hikers.

Menu depending, send me a text message when you’re ten
minutes from the “Skyline Diner” and I’ll have it ready and
waiting (so you won’t lose too much time on your marathon).

For those not planning the “Death March From Hell”, you’re
welcome to hang out at the diner, drink coffee and chat.

Although, my stunt pales in comparison to Rick’s triple
Skyline attempt! (you only get breakfast once…)

Looks like you will need to do a c2c2c on the third trip. :D

Zip, Sent you the link and the page in particular I sent Tina...that girl gets nuts after too much sugar and time on the trail.....

Today she knocked two hours off her last Whitney time - 11 hrs. I imagine she held up way better than when she did it sick last month.

lilbitmo: Thanks!

Steve: Thanks, and check your email.

Rick: Three is completely doable in a 24 hour period - it's squeezing it in during a specific calendar day that makes it frustrating. The third round would be annoyingly late, missing out on celebrating with friends, which is what this all is really about. Actually, I think 4 is possible. Check this out.

3:00 a.m. Start at museum, finishing at tram a little before 8:00 a.m.
Roughly an hour break during tram ride down and transport to museum.
9:00 a.m. Up again. Tram at 2:00 p.m. Transport back to museum.
3:00 p.m. Up again. Tram at 8:00 p.m. Transport back to museum.
9:00 p.m. Up again. Tram not running, but finish by 2:59 a.m.

Four times easy. The problem is finishing at 2:59 in the morning. Everyone is already done celebrating and has gone home. I just don't want to be sitting on the back porch of the tram station, shivering and tired and all alone at 3:00 a.m.!

I'm envisioning three in 24 hours:

Round One: Friday, start at 3:00 p.m. Finish 8:00 p.m., come down and have a nice dinner and sleep a few hours.

Round Two: Saturday morning, get up at 2:00 a.m., trailhead at 3:00 a.m. Arrive at tram at 8:00 a.m.

Round Three: Saturday morning at 9:00, hit trail for final time. Finish by 2:59, have beer, margaritas, chips, and fun and laughter with crazy hikin' fools. Call it a day.

That's my plan right now.
