Yes, a true back to back. Same day, 16,000+ elevation gain in 22 miles. It will be a skyline extravaganza and i can't wait.

Tina Skylina - If I dont see you on the trail on your first ascent I will see you on the second ascent. Where are you planning on hiking on the next day :)
Ouch - my back is hurting just thinking about it. :)
The Coachella Valley hiking club is doing Skyline on Wed September 30 th at 4.00 am. If there is no heat wave I am tempted to go. Thats about five days after the tram re opens from maintenance. (It starts September 12)

Well that sounds like quite a day. Though my appetite for C2C is still strong since I have not done it yet. Im thinking that Nov 7, or whenever your back to back day is planned will be a good day to attempt it again. I may finally see some of you on the trial!

Oh I plan on doing C2C a couple times in October to prepare for the true back to back, if you are interested let me know.

Cy-my skyline King, i have missed you greatly. I can't wait to get back on the trail come the end of September. I have been a good girl and stayed away as per Doreens request. She would have my you know what if she found me up there in the heat....but this is why i love her so she watches over me.
BTW, what number will you be at if you go up on the date of September 30th? 24?

Tina my hero, when I was your age I could never do as much as you are doing now. You are raising the level of the Skyline challenge by contacting Rick.
He did three Sierra peaks in 28 hours and considered it a failure because he wanted to do it in 24 hours or less :)

i would be curious to see if he does two or three back to backs. i think a three peak challenge in 28 hours is quite an accomplishment-but we all have our personal goals that we are trying to conquer.

I'm in for the crazy back to back 11/7.

Stood alone on a mountain top, starin' out at the great divide. I could go east, I could go west. It was all up to me to decide.

Tina,
When you come down between the 1st and 2nd climb, will you hike back down the trail or will you take the tram?

I think I'll plan on being out there on the 7th of November. I might try hiking back down to the museum that day instead of taking the tram. It takes we 7 hours on a good day to get up the Skyline Trail to Long Valley and 13 hours to do C2C when I take the tram down, so I expect it will take we 19 or 20 hours to do the entire trip. I can always wimp out when I'm in Long Valley on the way up or down if I don't feel up to it.
