Let's just say between 5.5 - 6 mi. one way then. Sure seemed longer than that!
But I was carrying overnight gear too.

If you noticed in the previous thread, I am in complete agreement with you. Sort of a Bermuda Triangle effect.

The first time I went up was in October a few years ago when there were fires everywhere. It was hot, steep, and I kept looking for smoke rising from below me, indicating that I was trapped and about to die in a wildland fire. It seemed like eternity before I got to the top. When I got back, I logged the trail as "probably about 19 miles" in my running journal! I'm not usually that far off in my estimates. Marion is one steep trail.
