Tramway tomorrow

I'm thinking to ride up the tramway tomorrow for a short hike. Maybe the peak, maybe something else. Anyone else heading up? I usually catch the 8:20 or 8:40am tramcar.

I'm meeting Kathryn at Grubbs in the morning and from there we are either going to the peak or Carumba.

You're doing the Skyline? Too hot for me and i grew up in Palm Springs. Maybe that's why i don't do it in the summer. I've had enough heat.

I was thinking of taking the first tram up in the morning and hike to Caramba.
I've never been there.
If you see a blue GMC pickup without a hood (long story) in the parking lot, it's me!
If I don't have a bandana tied on my head, there will be a wide brim hat hanging off my pack.

I had a good hike getting to the summit cabin in 1 hour 44 mins. Between RV and Wellman's i caught up with Doreen and we had a nice little chat. Then on my way back down met Liz on her way up. Hi Liz! Nice to have finally met you in person. And then between RV and Wellman's saw Mark on his way up. Mark was doing the Strawberry trail loop. Dave, i saw your truck in the parking lot and it was still there when i got down. Didn't see you either Steve. Hope you had a good Skyline climb!

Made it to Caramba. Hike there wasn't too bad! Water was nice!! Hike back sucked!!
Pulled a calf muscle on the way there, and made an interesting hike back.
Took about 2 hr 45 minutes to get there, 5 hrs to return to Tram.
Guess I need to take a couple weeks off now!!
Should have done the peak!!!!!

Nice running into you earlier Florian...

I did the Strawberry Junction loop for the first time today. It's a lovely hike and the section between Wellman's and Strawberry Junction is outstandingly beautiful right now. I didn't feel like climbing the Summit rocks, so with a stop for lunch it took me seven hours. That route really is a good mix of uphill/downhill, great views and scenery, and an abundance of plant life. Highly recommend it.

I'm totally with you. I did the same thing a couple of years ago, had a nice dip at Caramba, and thought everything was great. Then suffered in the heat on the way back.

Good job on the hike though!
