This weekend hiking

General Palm Springs area.

skyline 330, dobb's shortcut?

Postby lightgy » Thu Jul 02, 2009 10:03 am

I'm fairly new to the Palm Springs area, but view the " chatter" on this site often. The "chatter" inspired me to get off my can and complete the "museum to tram" trail several times last October.
Tina mentioned hiking 'skyline 330' and 'Dobb's short cut'. Pardon my ignorance, but are these routes and where are they?
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I believe 330 is refering to her prefered start time and Dobbs shortcut is a route over on San Gorgonio that takes a rather straight up the fall line approach.

Hello lightgy, welcome to the board.
Skyline 3:30, that is what time i was going to go tomorrow but i decided doing skyline (museum to the tram) in the heat solo wasn't the smartest idea so i am going Saturday at 3am with my friend Michael.
Dobb's short cut is in the san bernardino mts. off of Vivian creek trail up to san gorgonio.
Are you hiking anywhere this weekend?

dobb's shortcut

Thanks, Tina. I guess I was hoping that skyline 330 and Dobb's shortcut were the "mythical" Skyline shortcuts you occasionally read about on this board.
I met you and your friend once as you motored by in October. Like a summer storm you approached quickly and poof you were gone. My partner thought you were an apparition.
I haven't decided where I'm hiking this weekend. I may do skyline Saturday or Sunday. I may just stay low and easy in the foothills. North and South Lyken trail followed by Las Casuela's and cold Bohemias.

Happy 4th

Tina, do you guys need a pickup Saturday morning at the tramway? Let me know if you do. I'll be home.

Three of us are leaving from Humber Park tomorrow morning to hike to SJ peak and back. It's been a while since I been on top, so really looking forward to it.

Tina,
Thank you for the invite. May I have a rain check for later in the year. I need time to raise my fitness level if I expect to hang with 'the storm'. I'm afraid you guys would drop me fairly quickly after watching you pass earlier this year.
Best Regards
