Rush hour on San J

Postby Ellen » Wed Jun 24, 2009 9:15 am

Howdy All :)

Here's proof of the hordes on San Jacinto last Saturday. Karin took the picture of our Fuller Ridge group. I didn't even get to touch the sign

Look forward to seeing you on the San Bernardino Peak trail on Saturday morning 8)

Howdy Kathryn :)

I agree with Z -- Limber Pine is gorgeous and the perfect place to stop for a snack with a view before heading back down.

Howdy Steve :)

Considering what teachers have to put up with, the least they deserve is a summer off.

Be nice to her or I won't share my beer

It's at 9300, so it's probably low enough that you won't really notice the altitude. I think when we did Vivian, you began to notice it above High Creek on the way up to the ridge? Is that right? If it is, that would be going from about 9000 to about 10,000, and we'll be staying mostly below that.

Have you bagged up some bacon yet?

Hi Ellen,

The first photo showing everyone on the peak catches Halohiker (Liz) in a red long sleeve top w/ orange backpack. Jean and I had the pleasure of meeting her on the tram ride up. One of the things I like about the meetups is the chance to recognize people on the trial when you see them.

Majikwalt, I agree. It would be nice to recognize the local superstars on the trail just to say hi and how much we enjoy their posts. I ran into Moose Tracks/Laura last Sat on the 97 switchbacks, who I've never met before but instantly recognized her from summit post pics. She was having a great time with her Dad and always carries top shelf liquor in her pack. Ahhhoooowga.

Hi DaveD,

I just added Moose Tracks to my favorite hikers list. Getting to put a face to a name on the board is always great. Some of the posts on this board have given me ideas for the best hikes and inspired me to go back to covering higher miles per trip.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Yup!

Yup! You caught me in that first pic. Funny! I just saw that posting today.

I hit the peak again yesterday and it was so much quieter! I'll likely be back in that area this Saturday.
Stood alone on a mountain top, starin' out at the great divide. I could go east, I could go west. It was all up to me to decide.
