Z, I tried your back route today. Seemed to take more time to me. More stop and go. I usually drive I10 to the Calimesa exit. Seemed especially slow on the drive home when i got to Beaumont and had to face another gauntlet of stop signs and traffic lights. I just wanted to be back on the I10 heading toward home.
Hmmm! I don't know - I live right in the middle of the "shortcut", so I'm kind of biased...it's always shorter for me than the County Line route, but then, I'm miles from the freeway where I live, so the back route is easier. Either way, as long as you make it!
Hopin' to see you here Florian! Will you be able to make it?
Yes. You can also just come straight to Angelus Oaks at the trailhead - that would save you a few minutes so you could sleep a little more. Incidentally, the back route is probably only faster in off traffic hours, but I think it is quicker when there's no traffic.
I'll PM directions to you in case you want to come directly to the house at noon.
6:00am where...trailhead or Mill Creek Ranger station. Looks like an hour drive, need 1.5 hours to pull the BBQ out of the smoker and get into the serving trays, baste the BBQ 2 hours before its to be pulled out of the smoker (working backwards is hard)...seems like being a Marine again. Drink all night go for a long hike the next day!
