Santa Rosa Mtn Road conditions

Thinking about driving up the road toward Toro Pk. Have not driven it before. Any thoughts on if a Toyota Corolla can make it?

I'd think you could do most of it in a Corolla. Last i was up was a year ago so not sure the current conditions or if there are any bad areas from winter run off. At lot probably depends on your driving skills and experience on dirt roads in your Corolla. I drive a Toyota Tacoma but i'm sure i never engaged 4x4 when i went up last time. You're suppose to have an adventure pass but i didn't buy one.

I checked with a friend who says that the road had been blocked by a downed tree, but that was removed a few weeks ago and the road had been open since.

The toughest part on the road is the first mile. If you can make it up that, you're good.

I don't know about a Corolla, though. Good luck.

You guys should see some of the stuff I've done with my 86 olds cutlass. Between the Whitney Portal and Horseshoe Meadows there's a dirt road:

One section was so steep I had to get a running start to build up some speed to get over that hump.

I went up the road three times last year - taking different groups to see the crashed H-53 helo. The 1st trip I went up in my Mini Cooper. The second trip I went up in my Suburban and was able to pick up the front air dam that was ripped off my Mini the 1st trip. Your Toyota won't make it all the way, but it will get you close enough. Are you going to see the helo?................................................DUG

I made it to the area of Virgin Springs with no problems (2006 Toyota Corolla)...probably could have gone further but it was not my destination.
Road is in good shape and as Hal has noted...if you make it first mile...you can probably make it .
