Key's View the really, really, really hard way.

Hiked up to Key's View from the Coachella Valley on Saturday. My friend, Carl Garczynski, and I hiked up Fan Canyon near 1000 Palms to the California Hiking and Riding Trail, to the Stubbe Springs Trail, to the Fan Canyon View and then cross country past Inspiration Peak to Key's View.

The weather was incomparable, the terrain fascinating and the company invigorating. It was a great trip and I've posted a report on my blog as usual.

very, very, very cool Hal. Looked like a great hike and always good to have a weatherman with you. I've heard he's great company.

That amount of wildlife on a trip always adds alot to the experience, and how about that weather this weekend ? Impossible to be indoors.

Nice one.

Great trip report and photos Hal. It seems like every spring I forget to spend time over on the other side of the Interstate. Thanks for the reminder.

It has been so long since I've seen a horned toad! Looks like you had a great hike, thank you for posting those amazing photos.

I've always figured there must be a way up from lower side. On Google maps, there shows what I would guess is a jeep trail, going up Fan Canyon, then breaking east then north. It ends a couple thousand feet below Keys view. I would guess you would then take one of the ridges up? Was this your desired way? Those are great pics.
