The cold front is suppose to move through late in the week and send us below 90º for a pleasant surprise.

I was noticing the forecast for cooler temps also. I'm thinking to go up the Skyline on Fri or maybe Sat but just part way then walking down. I really like the lower desert sections and don't need to go all they way to be happy.

You all may know this already but desertweather.com is a really well done site for local weather ..

http://www.desertweather.com/

The site is run by a local desert resident with continuous updates.

Are temps below 90º considered a cold front in the desert?

That should make for some nice hiking out there.

Here in Palm Springs, sub 90º high is definitely a cold front and reason for celebration. The Canadians wouldn't have left if they knew this kind of weather was coming!!!

Skyline June 6

Postby Ellen » Fri Jun 05, 2009 8:07 am

Howdy All :)

OK, I know I'm in a rut, but how can I pass on doing Skyline in this unseasonably cool weather? I've posted a picture so you can recognize me on the trail tomorrow.

Man, the forecast keeps dropping...81 and 65 for Saturday! Tomorrow is the wifey's birthday or I'd be doing Skyline with all of you. Enjoy that cool weather for me!

Loving this weather. Went on a hike in the Indio Hills this morning and with the wind it actually felt cold.

Doing 1000 Palms up to Stubbe Spring in Joshua Tree and then over to Key's View and this weather was made to order for that. All other desert hikes should be awesome.

Enjoy it while we can!

Howdy All :)

Mark set a PR on Skyline today (Friday) -- said the weather was fabulous. I'm looking forward to his trip report.

Howdy Z :)

Please wish your wife a Happy Birthday for me 8) We'll miss you Skyline and at the tram bar

Howdy Hal,

There are so many desert hikes that I haven't done -- I'll try to get more in next spring during wildflower season. Have a wonderful weekend 8)

Ellen
