Thought and prayers to his loved ones.

Perry,
Did you create this site
http://www.geocities.com/cactus2clouds/skyline.html ?

Reading those pages created a powerful respect for me, before I made my first trip.

Fatal Heat Stroke last weekend

Postby neverwashasbeen » Tue May 19, 2009 5:20 pm

I checked with the fire department, it's true. When paramedics reached him he was unconscious and went into full arrest at the bottom of the trail. Details given matched Cy's original post very closely.

Yeah, that was a page I put up before this forum existed. Glad to hear it has made a difference. It used to not have the quiz and have easy access to info, but then I thought it could potentially cause problems if some people skipped all the warnings and just looked up where the trailheads are. I placed code in the full info page that tells search engines to not include it in results.

Heat Stroke on Skyline 5/17/09

Postby Cy Kaicener » Tue May 19, 2009 6:08 pm

Robie called again and said that he would give us more details when he finds out about them. It seems that they turned back before reaching Flat Rock, maybe closer to half way. I think he mentioned a 5.00 am start.

My Condolences

Postby WOLFDOG » Tue May 19, 2009 8:36 pm

So upsetting to here. Everytime I hear something like this, it reminds me of the time when I heard of the boy scout that died up near Marion Mountain Campground in 1978 when the troop attempted to backpack up to Deer Springs in early November and caught in the worst blizzard. My deepest condolences.

I'm completely stunned to hear the tragic news. I did C2C this past Sunday and started at 1:20 AM but it was still 80F at the trailhead. I can't believe this happened. My thoughts are with the family.

I'm stunned and saddened. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I don't want to threadjack here but does anyone have any idea how many people over the years have perished on Mount San Jacinto?

Very sad news indeed. It explains the medical debris at the trailhead. I hadn't heard anything locally in the news and no one had mentioned it on the trail.
