Zippety, we pulled in right behind you on the street and by the time I got out of my van and stretched you were already sprinting off to catch all of the early starters. I think you may have already been to 4300 ft before we even had our packs situated right :P

There were eight in our party. Three first timers. Six of us got up in 6 - 6.5 hrs. Two others in 8.5 hrs. One of them was a newbie, but she stayed with a veteran the whole time. Our most impressive new hiker, and Tina will testify to it, was Noah at the old age of 14. On Tinas heels the whole way. She tried to lose him on all the short cuts but that didnt work either. As far as enjoying it, they all did once they were done. But definitely not after flat rock.

Mark, I'm glad you remember our trip. Now you are the veteran and I will have to try and follow you some day.

Dan

Howdy All,

I was honored to hike with Kathryn on her first Skyline. We'll have a belated celebration at Las Consuelas soon. It's a pleasure to welcome her as the latest member of Skyline Addicts Anonymous. I remember introducing Steve to Skyline last fall -- now I can't keep up with him.

If I'd known how fast Mark was going, I would have slipped off the back at the beginning and saved myself some major suffering early on :-)
Fortunately I had the delightful company of Kevin and Dan on the Never Ending Ridge.

We had a great time talking with Z-dude as he took a rare break at Flat Rock. In watching him fly up the trail, I can attest there's nothing wrong with his legs.

It was awesome to see Scott as he popped into Long Valley. For a while, the tram bar was the exclusive domain of new and regular Skyliners. The bartender took one look at us and was worried he'd run out of beer.

I'll be back out on the trail before the crap of dawn with Karin this Saturday. Hopefully there will be a sighting of the Loveable Mountain Blond. She's kindly offered to slow down and shepherd me up Big Iron before it gets too hot.

I ran into Walt, his daughter, and grandson at Las Consuelas after the hike. He is doing great and looks forwards to hiking with us.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Shouldn't the L be for "Lightningfast"? Not to take anything off the "Loveable" side, but 4 hour times deserve some major props.

We should all have another one of our Mountain top rendezvous again or perhaps a Las Consuelez run. It's been fun to meet a lot of you in the past. I'd love to meet you on the trail even more, but my knees seem to have other ideas. :(
