Yeah, being online is reading, not emotion. I like to talk to people in person. Anytime someone talks to me in person they say, hey you are (nice), or (funny) and well idk. I am on coffee right now, a nice large starbucks rush ...

Did you ask them if it was the first time?

It's nice to know the Tram has on site weather now. It's nice to have online But I do know they have closed the Tram in the past due to wind warning from the NWS.

I visited on Wednesday during the insurance meeting. The GM stated that they shut down in the past before, but never have they shut down prior to an event, which kept people from being stranded, just as they were on April 3rd of this year.

Basically we have a plan for high winds now. We can stay open as long as possible to keep guests moving up and down the attraction, but narrowing down an event to a two hour window could be good and gain trust from the guests to the mountain safety measures.

Guests that are stranded may not want to return if they don't trust forecasts for the mountain or events. They were not happy on April 3rd I was told, when they were stranded from 12pm to 8pm from high winds.

So combining a safety plan, but still keep the revenue flowing for the day till the tme to shut down is the goal. All businesses like to keep the revenue flowing, and shutting down is never good, however I was proud that they called me and asked how sure I was, and what time window would the event hit. They took the data I gave them and formed a time to get people off the mountain and shutdown or they would have been there almost all night. It showed they wanted safety first, which I was really happy to see.

When I went on Wednesday I took the tram up with the officials to see the terrain and slope features. I needed the length of slope and angle of it and with that I am developing (which is almost done) a wind gust formula for the powerful and damaging down-sloping winds off the Eastern slope of the mountain.

Not to mention it was my first time experiencing a -6F wind chill. My ears were frozen shut in a minute of being at mountain station up at the weather station and cameras. Not use to that at all but it was an experience that is for sure.

The following questions are color coded.
Red questions must be answered.
Olive are optional.
Black not only shouldn't be answered but should never be asked on this board.

you have 7 minutes to answer the list.... (and there is no cheating) we are watching you!.... GO!

How did they find you.
How much do they pay you.

Under what conditions would you trespass.
Do you eat caffeine? intentionally.
How long have you been married.
Why do those three guys hate you. Be honest.
You need to be honest about that last question.

How old are you.
How long have you been a weather man.
Is this your side job or is this your main job.

Does your wife work too.
Any kids?
How old.

Do you know what a cairn is and would you kick it?
What color is Hal's hair.
What about a bivy? Do you know what a bivy is?
Ever heard of a bivy? How many different ways can bivy be said and still mean the same thing?

Thank you.

I was gone last night ...

How did they find you.
Their VP was watching the former OWS for years and then showed the GM the site. They watched the outline over two years and decided to ask me to do the account.

How much do they pay you.
It's not rich, but it's not little, however it's cool to get paid for weather, but my goal is expansion in the future, not to get paid and be rich from custom forecasting for clients. over 50% of the money is going back into expanding and finding ways to expand the project.

Under what conditions would you trespass.
Never

Do you eat caffeine? intentionally.
I drink coffee, every morning.

How long have you been married.
Coming up on just a year in June

Why do those three guys hate you. Be honest.
Because I was a jerk in the past?

You need to be honest about that last question.
I was.

How old are you.
24, 25 in August.

How long have you been a weather man.
Since I was a weather boy.

Is this your side job or is this your main job.
main job, but I have cluster jobs with different clients. My goal is about 10 clients to forecast for like the tramway, however that is probably all I can fit into a day's work.

Does your wife work too.
She is a nurse.

Any kids?
I am unable to provide kids.

How old.
A puppy count?

Do you know what a cairn is and would you kick it?
No don't know what it is.

What color is Hal's hair.
I'm guessing gray.

What about a bivy? Do you know what a bivy is?
No, don't know that.

Ever heard of a bivy? How many different ways can bivy be said and still mean the same thing?
Never heard of the word.

Mt San Jacinto hike

Postby Cy Kaicener » Sat Apr 18, 2009 9:44 am

I was ready to ride the tram today and could not use my pass because it had expired two days ago. I could not buy a new one with a check like I did last year. Now it is cash only. I hope this will save you having a problem by not bringing cash for a pass or day ride.
Last year they gave you three weeks extra time for tram closure, but not this year - so be prepared

Sorry to hear that. I actually don't like cash only either. Some gas stations started that where I live.

Well, the GM did say if I want to go up, schedule something with them if I want to bring family and friends ... (hint hint, free ride), and if I have a hiking group I'm sure I can get everyone I'm hiking with up for free if a small group.

That is, if I don't mess up on weather for them too bad.

What color is Hal's hair.

The correct answer would be GOLD, like a ray of sunshine. Although some might call it Strawberry Blond.

Mine was gold when I was in High School due to bleaching it. I looked like one of those people off the older movie "Meteor Man", a golden lord.

Oh so you are the hiker for everyday Hal? Very cool.
