Today we went from the tram station to Wellman's Divide, then up to bag Jean Peak. Not enough time for us to get to San Jacinto Peak as well without pushing the daylight too far. There is not much snow near the tram station, but there is still snow on the trails, except for some parts of Long Valley.
There is still, on average I would estimate, several feet on the trail in Hidden Valley out towards Wellman's Divide and more up towards Jean Peak; however it is very compacted. I had crampons with me and did not use them on any part of the trip. While the crampons may have helped out a couple of times, we were able to get to where we went without them. Postholing was not a significant problem for us today, fortunately.
