c2c on Friday, May 8

Postby llbllm » Tue Mar 17, 2009 3:18 pm

Hello
I am going to be in Palm Springs on May 8 and would really love to hike the c2c. If anyone is available (thank you Cy for saying you'll let me know by May 2) that would be willing to go with me I would be grateful. I have not hiked it before and don't think I should do it alone the first time. I am a steady hiker, not fast, but steady.

I think our hikers dont like to plan so far in advance. The regulars usually go either on a Saturday or Sunday. Its great to be retired.

Hi llbllm! I looked on the calendar, and it looks like the 8th is a Friday. You might find someone for a Friday, but going along with what Cy said, you'll see lots of people on a Saturday and might have an easier time finding someone to go with. Also, you'll perhaps meet more people along the way on a Saturday. I particularly like that, partly because there are great people out there on the trail (they're also on this board), and partly because I find it a little spooky when it's just me and the rattlers.

Hope you have fun either way! If you're out there on Saturday, I might run into you myself on the trail. I don't start as early as many people do, but we might see each other along the trail.

I find it a little spooky up there when the thought comes to mind that it's just me and a mountain lion! Especially after Steve, Ellen and I saw tracks in a wash on Guadalupe recently

Thank you all for your replies, I wish I could hike on Saturday, but my schedule won't allow it this trip, my son has planned that we will be in Soak City on that day!! After a long hike, I may need the soak. I still hope someone might like to go on the c2c on May 8th. Cy, you said perhaps.

I will know a week beforehand. The group that I usually go with on Saturdays will let me know if they can change it to a Friday.

My favorite is the birds that fly off just as you walk by in the blackness. Your senses are hightened when hiking in the dark on that trail.
