My gf and I wanted to try our snowshoes out before our yosemite trip. I went to the ranger station and asked what they suggest. The lady told me to fill the paper work out and gave me a basic map of suicide rock route. THe deer springs trail went off the map we had so after seeing suicide rock, we got back on the trail and continued to ascend. My gf wasn't feeling to well and it was getting late so we headed back. I didn't really take much pictures but do you guys recognize the this tree that is dotted with holes from the woodpeckers?

We went about a half hr up from the woodpecker tree then turned around. When I got home I saw on another map page that shows strawberry junction running into deer springs. Is there a sign at this juction?

Looks like you are right before Strawberry Junction. Is that pic with the view south around the area where you stopped at? If so, you are right below Strawberry Junction from what I can tell.... I don't remember the tree with all the wholes in it...but check out the trail page I made for the Deer Springs Trail http://www.summitpost.org/route/429995/Deer-Springs-Trail.html That might be able to help you out some...
