BooHoff to lost canyon

General Palm Springs area.

Has anybody ever run into a ranger in any of these areas and been asked to leave or been chased off ? Those signs are everywhere in the Santa Rosas. Fortunately I only see the sheep, I've yet to see rangers. And I think it was Hal that mentioned the helocopter before.... I was in an area up above the bear creek oasis (the real one) peacfully watching a group of seven sheep, nice and quite until the helicopter came flying over from PD really low. That was the only time I've ever seen sheep take off in seperate directions. Usually they just move on about there way in more or less single file. That helicopter did freak them them out.....not me.
I do obey the dog part of the sign, he and I had an argument over water and I still refuse to carry his.

I imagine being shot at from a helicopter with a net would bring about odd behavior.
There not getting the viruses from humans apparently.

By quietly walking in the hills I am not encroaching on there reality anymore than any other animal ( I don't believe). I have even walked within 30 or 40 yards of a group of them without them even getting up.
I can't imagine staying out of the hills because of those signs.

I've been wondering where the dead ones end up. I have run across muley carcasses but never sheep. Now I know why.

The lambing season sign on the Skyline trail is ridiculous. Everyone ignores it. The BLM used to have a person waiting up there from about 6.30 am (which is too late for most serious hikers) but soon realised the futility of it.
If I or you were a ewe or a lamb, just imagine how freaked out we would be by the noisy sound of a helicopter.
