Murray Hill

Yesterday, I hiked to Murray Hill via the Garstin, Wildhorse, and Clara Burgess Trails - it was a beautiful day in the desert - sunny with a nice light breeze blowing. Some pictures I took:

Next Saturday I think I'm going to try another hike in the Palm Springs area - the West Fork Trail to Andreas Canyon (Aqua Caliente Indian Canyons) - it's supposed to be a really nice hike.

As always, great pictures! A couple of little things.

The West Fork Trail does not come out at Andreas Canyon. It meets up with the Pelton Trail and comes down to Murray Canyon. I have found myself just coming straight down the hillside rather than going all the way to Murray but that's just me. It is a great hike and I'm hoping to do it on Thursday to the Needle's Eye. There is some rock art I'd like to take some pictures of.

In your picture of the Santa Rosas, that is Dunn Road and I wasn't able to see Rabbit Peak in the pictures but Sheep Mountain, Martinez, Santa Rosa, and Asbestos. Maybe it's just me but I don't see it.

Also, are the picnic tables still on top of Murray Hill? I read they were going to remove them but haven't been up there in a while.

Thanks Hal - I got carried away with my peak naming - you are correct, Rabbit being southeast of Martinez is not in the picture. Thanks for mentioning needles eye - sounds like a good area to check out. Yes, the picnic tables are there on Murray Hill.

There is a little rock art at Needle's Eye but it's hard to find. I'll post some pictures on Thursday. After crossing the creek (West Fork) there is a big rock art panel right by the trail on the right. I'll get a pic of that one, too.
