first time

Postby climbrx » Tue Jan 20, 2009 10:17 pm

Hi all a friend and I had our first experience on the C2C route this sunday. Had no expectations on how far along we would get we just hit the trail at 8am and planed to turn around at 1pm where ever we were. I had an exellent time. We came across a marker for 5000 ft and climbed the next hill had a nice view of the tram station. At 1pm we headed back to the art museum we arrived at 6:10pm. We hope to try for the station late spring when the snow melts.

Any advice where an interested person would learn the ins n outs of snow/ice climbing?

Well thanks for letting me share my first trip with you all.

Are you looking for information on good snow/ice climbing routes or are you looking for someone or someplace to teach you?

I would love to learn how to snow/ice climb ... Are there schools for this? What gear is needed. Im a sponge for information so any info is good to me.

There are good guide services in Bishop which teach ice climbing/winter mountaineering.

I'll be taking a couple multiday training/guided trip sessions with them soon. Sierra Mountaineering was highly recommended to me and in recent discussions and emails with them, I am very happy with there customer service, knowledge of the mountains and gear recommendations.

I would highly suggest one of there classes as well.
