Great report Ellen - I saw some snowshoe prints going straight up as I headed over to Miller Saddle this morning, but it looked like they came up from Tamarack Valley; so maybe not the ones your group made. I was surprised that I didn't see a beaten path along where the trail is between Wellman Divide and Miller Saddle.

Howdy Karen,

I enjoyed your company and look forward to hiking with you again in the near future :-)

Howdy Jim,

Great idea -- wait, I need to some find manzanita and buckthorn that isn't buried by snow :-) Hope you're back on the trails soon.

Howdy Kathy,

I think you did see our snowshoe tracks -- we headed up from the direction of Tamarack Valley. I didn't see a trail or tracks from Wellman's to Miller saddle either last Sunday or yesterday.

Thanks for your always fabulous pictures :-)

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Wow! Everybody's up playing on the peak in the snow!

Ellen, great job and fun TR - I enjoy your writing.

Kathy, I didn't know you did the snow camping thing in addition to all your trail adventures. You're amazing. I've never done San J in the snow, so I enjoyed the pics of the peak.

I hope to be out in the snow over the New Year's holidays (though I'll probably be over on San G). Hope to see some of you out there!

Hi Tina! I've been off the trails for the past few weeks due to some medical issues (which is why I haven't been posting much either), but I'm hoping things are getting back to normal now, so I should be running into friends out there on the trails real soon.

I checked out San B for a little bit last weekend, but it got icy so I only went about a mile and a half up. The snow was pretty deep though, about a foot or so, even at Angelus Oaks, so I imagine San G (SF vie Dry Lake) would be nice about now.

Hope to see you up there!

Ellen:

Thanks for the link to the report. Sounded like a really fun day with some great peeps! You know that you are now part of "TEAM HYPOXIA", of which Doogieman is First Louie... hmmm... wonder who the captain could be... The whole goal of TH is to "Get high, and stay there!" Woohoo!

Hoping to get in a nice snowshoe tomorrow myself, but a bit further north. I may head into the South Lake/Bishop Pass area to celebrate the New Year (with a bit of the old. Then there's something about borrowed and blue, wait, I'm flashbacking, sorry)... I'll have to change that saying to something orange! :P

Wishing you a Happy New Year, and hope to see you up this a-way soon!

This was Andrew's first time up San Jacinto. Nothing like doing it the hard way...

Howdy Z-dude :-)

I am so happy to see your post -- I've been concerned. Hope the medical issues are resolved and we'll see you on the trails soon.

Howdy Laura :-)

TEAM HYPOXIA -- I love it!!! I told the guys that I need to start carrying a beer to the summit to honor you. I'll definately be up your way this year.

Miles of smiles and fun in the snow,
Ellen
