Linking to Local Search & Rescue

Postby Perry » Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:31 pm

There used to be a link to RMRU at the top of the message board, then after the software upgrade I wasn't able to edit the code because the new software is very much database driven without the familiar HTML inside the PHP files. Lately I've been thinking about adding an announcement at the top of the main section and Outdoors section. Here are the local SAR's and web pages that I know of:

Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit: http://rmru.org/
To Join: http://rmru.org/join/join.html
To Donate: http://rmru.org/donate.htm
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/riversidemountainrescue

Palm Springs Mounted Police: http://www.palmsprings-ca.gov/governmen ... rch-rescue
Facebook with Donate Button: https://www.facebook.com/Palm-Springs-M ... 404612601/

Desert Sheriff's Search & Rescue: http://dssar.org/
To Join: http://dssar.org/joindssar.html
To Donate: http://dssar.org/donate.html

Joshua Tree Search & Rescue: http://www.josar.org/
To Donate: http://www.josar.org/index.php/donate-to-josar
To Join: http://www.josar.org/pdfs/josar-new-member-info.pdf
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/josarorg/

If anyone wants to add to the list or comment, please share your thoughts. I believe DSSAR is for mid and east Coachella Valley and Santa Rosas. Somebody else might know more about them.

A related question: should Joshua Tree National Park be included in the main section? Some of the most active threads on here are JTNP-related, but we rarely talk about the place unless somebody is missing in the park. I know a decent number of the members here go hiking in the park, but there aren't really trip reports except for searches, and no posts about finding hiking partners or asking about conditions. Would that change if it was included in the main section? I think it still makes sense to link to JOSAR, even if JTNP is not part of the main section.
