"Internal Server Error" or slow response time?

Postby Hikin_Jim » Sat Sep 06, 2014 1:09 pm

How many people are getting either an "Internal Server Error" message (see below) or slow response time? How bad is it?

No problems except sometimes its a little slow in response from page to page. Other than that, everything's been fine.

Wow, some people I have talked to have been completely shut down by the intermittent problem. Others have experience only a minor delay. Go figure.

I'd say that about 2/3 of the time I try to log on or open a page on the site, it starts to load, then gets hung up and usually stops with a "cannot load the page" message. For whatever reason, right now it's working great.

I still get some slow loading pages from time to time, but I haven't personally seen the internal server error message.

Were you entering a post, using any special features?

Lately the only issue for me is that the site is slow as molasses, but no specific errors.

The problem I have is that everything is very slow to load.

I get the message about 1/3 of the time when I first go to the site. If I go elsewhere and come back a few minutes later, it will load, but it's almost always slow to do so.

I didn't realize it was this bad for some people. For me, it's been working fine most of the time.

It may be time to say bye bye to GoDaddy. I've been considering moving the message board to this web host:
https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/
Anybody have experience with them? It's in their business interest to keep a web site up and running fast because they charge by usage, not monthly like most places. They also allow third party donations to pay for hosting.

If we can speed up the board without moving, then it's simpler to not move. I'll know more next week...
