Automatic Login Not Working?

Postby Hikin_Jim » Fri Jun 12, 2009 3:39 pm

I always check the little box when I log in that says "log me in automatically." Lately, last day or so, I have to log in every time I visit the site. Never had a problem before.

Anyone else experiencing this?

If you share a computer, somebody else could be clearing the cookies every day.

No sharing, and I don't clear the cookies.

It's started all of the sudden. No problems with other forums. Any changes to the site in the last week or two?

Maybe I should just reboot. Could be some kind of lock or allo problem. Dunno.

I have had this problem forever but figured that it is due to my using different computers to login from.

That would cause it.

Mine just seems like the cookies are expiring very quickly. I must have changed some setting or something. Weird. It's working fine on the San Gabriels forum which uses the same forum software.

I had the problem today and I'm using my own (work) computer and haven't deleted cookies ( I don't think they do it automatically - though possible) and other auto logins have worked today.
Just one of those things I think.

Well, I believe I know what is causing it at least on my computer: the cookies are expiring unusually fast. If I leave an SJ forum window open for a few hours, it will ask me to log back in. My other php type forums are working fine. It must be some setting on my computer, although it beats me what setting it would be. Anyone got any suggestions?

I've been having to log in every day since this first posted.
Sorry, I don't know how to change cookie epiration (in my house they all get eaten before they could ever expire :D )

Since more than one of us is having the same problem; maybe the expiration is actually generated by the website - a default setting needs to be updated, maybe?
