Cleaned out the garage this weekend. Filled a small dumpster. Finally parted with a lot of old camping / climbing gear accumulated since the 1980's.
Finally threw away my old purple Koflach boots (first pair of plastic boots bought in 1986). And several pairs of old school crampons with all the straps and buckles. A Kelty Ridgeway mountaineering tent. Ancient Patagonia garments, and more. Some things I just couldn't bear to part with though:
- a pair of Lowe foot fangs crampons. They still seem perfectly serviceable.
- the first stove I ever bought, a Gerry mini stove, purchased in Colorado in 1972. There was a canister of Optimus 702 LP gas with it. Everything still worked perfectly. And another stove, an Olicamp inverted canister stove with a can of Optimus 808 Butane gas. Again, worked perfectly.
These last two items probably belong in the Hiking Jim stove museum
