Taken on 5-6-07 on the way to San Jacinto via Devils Slide trail.
I've always thought this was unusual. Not just the pink gators, skirt thing and that hat but that she was doing the PCT trail, ALONE! sorry but that just freaks me out! :( (zip? you sure she wasn't standing behind you when you took that San B shadow pic? just checking...)

Looks like Dirty Girl gaiters.

(Looks like the site is down for vacation.)
They are very light, just to keep the grit out, and rather popular among the ultra hiking and running crowd.
(No, I don't have them... but thought out it... but not in that color for me...)

I got a pair. I saw a couple last year near Mt. Hawkins wearing them.
The biggest problem with em so far is the little velcro strip that goes on the heel. You're supposed to rough up the surface and then peal off the backing on the strip and stick it on. It works for a few hikes but starts coming off.
So I tried bicycle tire patch glue :!: That worked better but it still comes off. And I HATE rocks in my shoes. (why do you guys walk with rocks in your shoes?)
So today I tried a glue gun. Roughed up the heels real good with a knife and sand paper and worked off the glue on the strip. (that's right! I removed it exposing the fabric so the glue gun glue goes way inside and bites mo bettah!) Man that stuff is hot! My fingers are all burnt from holding and pressing it in place. Somebody's got to do it. You won't so I have to. Thanks for being there... if it comes off again I'm gonna throw em away and use duct tape!

These work great and you never know they're there. The picture isn't exactly correct, they have a red strap across the bottom instead of what looks like a shoe lace. I haven't had anything in my shoe since I got them and I've been in some nasty stuff. I love them, no more trail mix.
