Waterman The search started last Saturday evening with Montrose search and rescue team they quickly called for Altadena and Sierra Madre rescue teams to assist searching in large area near Mount Waterman.

Searchers from all parts of California traveled hundreds of miles to help find a Korean hiker who became separated from this group last Saturday. We also had searchers from all seven Los Angeles County search and rescue teams search dogs unmanned aerial vehicles helicopters from the fire department and sheriffs department all looking for Mr. Jo.

This morning Altadena Mountain rescue team had two of our members hiking in the Devils Canyon area when they saw a dirty and disheveled adult who instantly perked up when they saw the rescuers. It was Mr. Jo, He had been drinking stream water eating plants and sleeping on the dirt.

Our Sheriffs air rescue five was immediately called in and Mr. Joe was flown to a local hospital where he stayed for a brief period of time being evaluated.
Mr. Jo had hiked on such rough ground that his shoes nearly destroyed them selves and he had to tie them back together with his shoelaces. He also credits is positive outcome due to his prior military training and told us he would not give up.

We would like to thank all the hundreds of volunteers who spent hours hiking rugged mountains searching for Mr. Jo and we’re all very excited this had such a happy outcome.

*UPDATE*
Mr. Jo has been released from the hospital.
