On September 30th, 2018 at approximately 0846 hours, the Palm Springs Mounted Police Search and Rescue Unit and The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribal Rangers responded to a injured hiker off trail in Tahquitz Canyon. PSMP-SAR located the injured hiker in an area off limits to the public, who had suffered minor injuries from a fall, but were unable to escort him down the trail due to his injuries and location. PSMP-SAR coordinated with the California Highway Patrol (H-60) and provided the location. CHP responded and hoisted the injured hiker off the mountain and airlifted the hiker to PSMP-SAR's Landing Zone where AMR and PS Fire Paramedics treated the hiker and transported him to a local hospital where he will be treated for his injuries. Thank you to all the agencies involved.
