Chantry Flats road

Postby Florian » Wed Dec 06, 2017 6:01 pm

Anyone know why the Chantry Flats gate is closed north of Arcadia? The nearby REI didn't know. I thought about stopping at the USFS station but last time i was there the woman at the info desk had no idea about anything. I'm guessing they don't want any extra people in the mtns during the current fires. Thanks.

The Mt. Wilson trail a mile or so east was also closed with yellow caution tape across the trailhead but no explanation posted.

Further east, the Claremont wilderness area is closed (since Monday.) The gov't cited fire weather as the reason in their public announcement. I have yet checked air quality indexes in the LA area. They are probably extremely bad over a very large area.
