Devil’s Chair via South Fork/Big Rock Creek

The area surrounding Devil’s Chair is known for it’s unique geology. Looking across the canyon (called the Devil’s Punchbowl) you can see how the San Andreas fault has changed the landscape. The area is very interesting and I wished I had spent more time exploring there before moving.

Oh? They have PCT markers down there now? It's one heck of a bypass around the, what, 3 mile frog closure. The bypass is 20 something miles if I recall correctly and drops off the crest all the way down to the desert only to climb back up to the crest again. My observation is that most people just road walk along ACH from vic. Eagles Roost to the east entrance (exit) of Buckhorn CG instead of descending all the way to the desert.
