We hiked in via the Gem Lake route and out via Spooky Meadow. In between we bagged Banner.

Loooooong day! TR coming later this week or early next week. In the meantime, here are some conditions for anyone headed to the Thousand Island Lakes area:

Timely! I will be in that area myself quite soon and I have my eye on 1KL. I have hiked a very similar route myself a couple years back.

Spooky Meadows is a rather steep lil' trail - good call doing that on the way out, not the way in!

Was there any smoke down in the Silver Lake area? I'll be down there too and I hope not!

I also was up in the area although being a tamer soul than Lyndon, I just went to Thousand Island Lake. Smokey, but still worthwhile. I did a sort-of a loop (more like a lasso) that went from Agnew Meadow to Thousand Island Lake to Emerald, Ruby, and Garnet Lakes and then back to Agnew.

My route was 17 miles, so I can only imagine that Lyndon's route would be quite long indeed.

It was clear at Silver Lake. This is a pic I took from our campsite:

With the trip to Banner Peak, our route was about 30 miles. Banner definitely pushed my comfort level, as we took the wrong use trail and got into what I would consider class 3.

There was one person that summited the day before us. Left Rush Creek TH at 5:10 am, hit Banner Peak summit at 11:10 am
