Mt. San Jacinto Outdoor Recreation

I've been meaning to use White Mountain Peak as a training hike for Mt. Whitney for a couple of years, but the timing has never worked out. I finally headed up there a few days ago:

What was the road like? I've always been interested in White Mountain, but since I am not fond of long drives on bad roads, never tried it.

I was glad that we weren't driving my car!
The open gate day was just a couple weeks ago, so I wonder if the road was worse due to that.
