Hi Chevy, it was a pleasure meeting you on Sunday! It was also great to see many hiking friends and others from the San J Board.
What a new perspective I have on things after witnessing the young veteran make it to the top of Baldy with his disabilities.
It amazes me what people can do with courage and determination.

Howdy Chevy :)

It was great to meet you on Baldy 8) When hero Isaac (double above knee amputee) reached the summit, Sally and I broke into tears.

Sister Sally, Miracle Marilyn and I came up Good canyon, which connects to the Baldy Bowl trail above 9 K. As we approached the peak, I heard Master Shin calling my name --this was his 400th summit of Mt. Baldy  Next, I saw Patrick Moran (Lilbitmo), other friends from the Whitney Portal Store Message Board and numerous other members of my mountain family. What an amazing day!

Thanks for the great photos and trip report.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Well, rats, I sure missed out. I sprained my knee a couple of months ago and am just now getting back into hiking. I didn't think Baldy would be a good idea for my knee, so I went to Sitton Peak in Orange County instead... and lost my wallet. It's my punishment for not supporting the heroes and sticking with the mountain fam. :(

We must have started behind you, I saw Isaac going down from the top as I was coming up. About 9:45 into my video.

They had a really good turn out this year, I think last year it was around 500 people, and this year it was close to 1000 people. All for a great cause. Anyone who says "that is to hard for me", or "I could never do that" just has to watch these wounded warriors making their way up the mountain and then reevaluate what is really holding them back. It will help put things into perspective for you.

Nice pictures.

Thanks! The quality of your video is amazing.

I am actually in the video. @ 9:26 there are 3 people, standing looking down the mountain. I am the one in the middle with the hat and white shirt. To my right is Duane Blunt (red pants, Isaac's brother & a veteran) and to my left is Mike Love (white shirt) is also a veteran. I met them on my descent.

Sally & Ellen, it was nice to finally meet the two of you!

I nearly didn't make the hike either HJ. I was up at 3am with my son after going to bed late.
