Howdy All :)

Went up Tuesday with Miracle Marilyn. Put micros on at about 8 K to deal with ice/snow berm in the brushy section before the John's meadow junction. Donned snowshoes and went XC up the left side of the ridge at the wooden bench. We occaisionally had to shrub-shoe over exposed brush on the way up to the saddle at 9.3 K. From the saddle, we had beautiful snow all the way up to west San Bernardino peak. There was enough snow to almost bury the rocks at the peak :D

Or Baldy.

I've always loved this view that looks like an arrowhead.

Happy Marilyn on the descent.

Perfect snowshoe conditions.

My only regret is that it takes so long to get to the "good part." Then again, that means less people. We laid the first tracks on the peak since the last snow.

When we started to drive out, discovered that Marilyn's car had a flat tire on the rear driver's side :( Just as she was going to call AAA, a Good Samaritan from Angeles Oaks named Roland came to our aid. I had fun chatting with his daughter, meeting a neighbor and playing with several cool dogs. Thanks Roland, you rock.

Miles of smiles,
Ellen

Finally, a do-able snowshoe trip up SB Peak for you. Seems like the last few times we tried we either had too much snow (the time it was blizzarding), or not enough snow! Great pictures! I always like pics of snowshoe tracks in virgin snow, and I had forgotten how you could see ALL the peaks from the top of SB Peak. Great job, ladies!
