Chiwawa Mountain backpack in North Cascades, Wa

While you wait for next season's rain to ease the drought in California, you can enjoy this trip report from a backpack I recently did in the rainy, drought-free mountains in Washington State. Water and snow everywhere! The Chiwawa River area is located northeast of Seattle in the Glacier Peak wilderness. We enjoyed gloriously sunny weather on this three night backpack in the northern Cascade Mountains.

Gnar Gnar - is that Lyman Glacier?

Far Gnar - Glacier Peak? Too clear of wildfire smoke to be East of you, right? How recent was it?

The first pic shows 9500' Bonanza Peak with the Isella Glacier. Lyman Glacier is not visible. The second pic shows 10,500' Glacier Peak behind Fortress Mountain. West winds blew away fire smoke that day (August 26).
