He was searching for his dog in a canyon of the Los Padres Forest and has not been heard from for several days

Thanks for posting these links, Cy. All interesting stories. Sounds like there still could be hope for finding the man in the first story. Let's hope for the best for him and the searchers.

Very sad, a tragedy. My condolences to his family. This reminds me a bit of the tragic case of the whole family who drowned when they tried to rescue their pet dog from the surf. In both these cases the dog survived, and the owner did not.
