How sad. He was likely well equipped for sweaty pedalling, but none for sitting out the night in the rain with an injury. Hypothermia kills.

Sadly, most hypothermia cases happen in moderate temperatures. 50ยบ can kill you and that's why I always carry a synthetic vest and a light shell even in warmer temps plus something to make a fire.

It's very sad when someone dies so young and so needlessly.

Very sad. I've already read several articles about the wife's anger toward the rescuers. Hopefully people will learn from this, a small emergency blanket or bivy is SO small and SO cheap and will prevent these tragedies.
