The desert hike season is starting back and I took my first trip into the mountains above Anza Borrego with a cross-country hike up the north face of Indianhead to the summit and then down one of the slot canyons into Palm Canyon for a great loop hike. The day was perfect and the sky was clear as we made the hike with some great weather, some great wildflowers and best of all a long and close encounter with three Bighorn Sheep just below the summit. As it starts to get cold and snowy in San J, G and A; don't forget there is great desert hiking available nearby this winter season.

A great shot of the Ram hovering over the ewes with Toro in the background can be found at:

You may find a full album of some of the highlight shots from the hike at the URL below should you wish to see more shots from the day.

Um, nice "sacrifice rock." Hiking? This weekend? Uh, no... I'm "busy".

How's your knee?

Great shots of the bighorn sheep. Also liked shots 55 and 56, reminded me of Monty Python!

A few weeks away from getting back out yet but improving. I'm taking satisfaction in the fact I had such a great Bighorn encounter on the hike to offset the downtime.

Did the ants place each cactus spine one at a time to defend their hole??
