Now is the time to say I told ya so, the petition did no good. But I can't. You got their attention. It did it's job, they just haven't done theirs.
While the their primary job is to regulate and control the forest, at some point in time , it is also to deal with the public. While I understand and even defend the closure, it should be open to reasonable negotiation.
not as an excuse, but I will mention that this is a very challenging time of the year, when the seasonal staff is laid off, and the perm has to take over their issues and problems.
That should not stop you from being assertive, and contact the ranger yourself. my experience is that they are always buried under a pile of things, and there is a certain "squeaky wheel" logic to getting things prioritized.
I've had another unpleasant encounter with Alex, as detailed in my "Jepson in a snow storm" trip report. I will be making a formal complaint about him.
I've sent a follow up e-letter to John Exline, copying Gabe Garcia, indicating that I haven't heard from Ranger Garcia. It's been over a month.
Hi ellen, are they going to have a public hearing to address this issue or is it a closed door event? Would be interested to listen in if it goes public.
If I am correct, Ellen received the "invitation" 1 or 2 days before the meeting was to be held and was unable to attend because she had already made a commitment to other plans.
I'm pretty sure they made the announcement to Ellen so late so she wouldn't have time to mobilize her "troops". Pretty stinky!
