Salton Sea at Sunset

Larry and I drove down to Brawley to celebrate our grandson Quin's birthday last month. After dinner we took a walk at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge. The timing was perfect for a gorgeous sunset which changed by the moment. We saw a great variety of birds. All the while I was pondering the dilema posted by KathyW: should we try to save the Salton Sea, or let it die? Hmmm.... What do YOU think?

Birds migrated for centuries before the big aqueduct accident.
Plus it reeks.

It's going to stink even worse as less water goes into it.

To do anything about the situation would cost a lot of money; so I doubt people will be water skiing in the Salton Sea again in my lifetime.

We camped at Mecca Beach a couple of years ago and the sunsets over the Salton Sea and the San Jacintos were some of the most stunnig I have ever witnessed.[/img]
