The pair started to get nervous as they moved along a mountainside that had grown increasingly steep... Peckens was walking ahead of Hiser when he slipped and then slid about 100 feet down the snowy mountain. He was able to dig his heels in and stop his fall... the mountain was thousands of feet high.
