When I read this the temperature in Palm Springs was 95 degrees at 4.00 am

It's a pretty decent piece except for one glaring screwup. From the story:

"For those people who are searched for at Joshua Tree, the overwhelming majority are quickly found. In 2010, out of the 25 individuals who were searched for, 24 were found within 24 hours; one wasn't. It was Rosenthal."

Ummmm....There were two....

Indeed, the other, Bill Ewasko, has never been found. For whatever reason, they don't include him in the above cited statistic, but they do include him in this graphic on SAR missions in J Tree.
