Forsee to Anderson Peak -- Success

Howdy All

Went back up Forsee Creek with Cindy yesterday. What a difference with snowshoes We got to the summit of Anderson peak and enjoyed the view of the San Gorgonio range while eating lunch. Coming down was also fun -- got to do a little "shoe skiing."

We may get a few more inches of new snow with this current system, so snowshoes will be recommended equipment on the north side of San Gorgonio.

Danny and I did San Bernardino Peak yesterday and was able to do it with microspikes, poles and crampons and ice axe..no snowshoes needed as long as you watch where you walk still postholed a few times but over all the snow was very firm

Did you stay on the trail past the wooden bench or head cross country up the ridge? I think part of the reason we needed snowshoes on both Forsee and San B was due to the warm weather softening up the snow.

From Skyline, it looked like the south side of San G has new snow -- I'm hoping the north side got some new snow.

It was snowing a good portion of the time..I would say about a 1/2 inch stuck..yeah, we ended up going cross country up the ridge as soon as the regular trail ran out..I was thinking we may have seen your snow shoe tracks going up the gulley but not sure..

Howdy All

Went back up with Calicokat Jim yesterday. There is still a lot of ice on the trailhead. We parked a ways down and walked up. Starting temp was 28 degrees. The trail itself also had ice, so we donned microspikes early on.

We started going cross country up the ridge at about 9100 ft. The snow is much more consolidated than three weeks ago. However, snowshoes were still necessary, especially when going down (the snow had softened a bit in the afternoon).
