Hey, based on your postings, shouldn't you be BikerBlatt?

With these crazy winds lately, do you get blown all over the road? A tailwind would be nice, but I've gotta give you credit if you're fighting a headwind and still logging some serious miles!

The winds weren't too bad on this ride except for a short span of time riding south on Tipton Rd. into a strong headwind with freezing rain. My nose, lips and feet began to freeze up, but all got good once I got onto Hiway 111.

I seem to spend a lot more time on my bike than hiking, but it is wandering in the wilderness away from people and roads where I feel most at peace with myself.

I like the bit where you get to ride on the freeway between hwy 62 and Whitewater.

Yeah the freeway thing is a bit iffy, but that's what it takes to make Whitewater a loop ride, which I usually prefer to out-and-backs. I asked a Highway Patrolman once about whether ot not it was legal to ride between Whitewater and Highway 62 on I-10. He indicated that it was legal going west, but not east. When I questioned him about why it would be okay in one direction but not the other, he said something to the effect that he didn't make the rules, just enforced them. I can't help but think it's illegal in both directions, but the "no bicycles" sign is next to the I-10 eastbound lane where 62 meets I-10 and not on the westbound side.

You can ride on freeways if there is no nearby alternate route. For example you can ride I10 to Blythe as there's really no other way. (I've always kinda wanted to do that actually.) I only did the westbound 62 to Whitewater bit once. I had ridden Indian Ave north to hwy 62 then went south on 62 and just kept going as there was no sign saying i couldn't. Some time after that i tried to do the reverse route but stopped when i found the eastbound on-ramp from Whitewater said no cycles.
