My hiking partner, Hikin' Joyce is a super hard core hiker. Well, the hikes always seem harder with her than when I do them alone anyway.

Here's Joyce demonstrating the fast pace that leaves me breathless.

Good stuff Jim, she will be starting her own "Hiking and Backpack Meetup Group" in no time - Super Small Happy Hikers of LA :) - unfortunately it might only have a limited group size and you might be the only "Tall member allowed from the outside" :D

I have that same Sigg Bottle and Trangia cook set. You have most excellent taste.

Super Small Happy Hikers of LA? I like it.

It's really fun hiking with her. She's a chip off the ol' block and really likes walks. It's really fun that is until she gets tired. Then she says "up", and I do all the hiking for the both of us.

She's a little sweetie. Pretty mellow for the most part. It's really heart warming when I pick here up on a hike and she falls asleep in my arms. Total trust.

Wow! A fellow Trangia user. Aren't too many Trangias around in the US although they're super popular world wide.

If you want a stove that absolutely will work in any conditions without fail, the Trangia is it. If I'm ever in a howling gale, I want a Trangia. They're not fast, but there's just nothing to go wrong on them. They're the kind of stove you could leave in your garage for 25 years and then go out and use it without any problems whatsoever.

Of course, technique is everything. Here, Hikin' Joyce demonstrates the proper technique.
