Well, since Hwy 39 is now finally open to Crystal Lake, I wanted to go up. So, I loaded the family into the car and off we went.

Of course proper hydration is essential.

Are you sure we can hike in this stuff, dad?

Apparently, $6,000,000.00 worth of upgrades doesn't include signage.

It's not too cold -- when I'm wrapped in dad's coat.

Just about there.

Sitting by the lake.

A little bit gray today.

Daddy helps me walk. I'm a big hiker now.

Whew! All that walking sure has gotten me hungry. Thank goodness for bunny crackers!

Just as we're about to leave, the fog bank breaks up for a moment.

Here, dad, try this handful of "schtow"

Here, mom, here's my favorite stick.

Time for daddy to make me snacks!

Yum!

I love Cheerios!

Whew! What a day! Time to go home!

Pictures #2 and #10 are worth a million dollars Jim, and the video is priceless..could watch way more than 2 or 3 minutes. Joyce needs her own blog buddy....and when she gets older she can share your knowledge of the mountains with her friends.

very nice, thanks for sharing. she's beautiful.

Thanks, Steve. She's really sweet. She's talking a lot and walking (more or less lol) now. She's got her own little personality.

What a doll! And she comes with "Happy Feet"! Does it get any better than that?

Jim, I get the impression you're enjoying fatherhood. Every day is a new adventure, with wonderful memories, huh?

HJ, is Joyce ever the cutest thing! She's so photogenic.

I'm glad you're giving her a taste of the great outdoors. When I take my grandkids out in the boonies they always find a favorite stick or get intrigued by some bug or ant hill - every little thing seems to get their attention.

It makes my wife nuts because I let Joyce play with sticks and dirt, but I think it's good for her.
