So, i run around Murray hill alot, and a few months ago I saw a beautiful large male Coyote and since realized he often naps in the lil oasis there that I run past every week, well, today he let me get very close, about 25ft. And he just was cool n looked absolutely perfect! Bigger and fluffier than the living desert ones.. then, after admiring him, i started walking and he kept pace, then i decided ta mess with him, and so id jog..hed jog, then id stop suddenly and hed stop, then id walk...hed walk...id stop, hed stop...too cute! any ways, was a fun game! then his girl showed up, lookin a bit preggers. they both kept an eye on me for another 100 yards or so, then got bored and stalked something in the bushes near them...chipmunks maybe? anyways, it was a really cool experience. Ive always loved all wild predators, even worked at the san diego wild animal park for a bit...anyway, I wish Id had a camera w/me. It was a really nice time, and what made it even cooler, is that no other people were around to disturb our curiosity towards each other. I still cant believe how close he let me get, and how healthy n flufffy they were, they must be stealin lots of ducks from the golf courses! haha. I know where they den too so im hoping to see thier pups in the spring. All in all a lovely solo day with the natives :D

That is just way too cool! The closest experience I've had to that is the time a little bobcat followed me down a trail at Santa Rosa Plateau - he did that copy-cat thing with me too.
btw - welcome to our hiking family,
Sally

very cool to get them to play with you..wildlife experiences usually only happen when your alone or with someone youve done lots of talking with and have finally shutup.. The week old baby sheep that Fernando and I came across a couple of weeks ago is by far my best story.

ducks from the golf course....funny, but makes you wonder?

Dang! thats cool...Ive still never seen a wild bighorn, only at the living desert....
But Yeah, here where I live they (not the same pair, but 3 younger guys) always come over the wall at dusk to drink out of our duck pond, and I know those guys take ducks and raid the nests for eggs when they have a chance. Which Is good or there'd be way to many ducks crapping all over the yard here!
