Hi Lee,
Yes, 50 foot drop in Eaton Canyon. I thought i would give canyoneering a try. Fun sport but my passion is still hiking and mountaineering.
How have you been?

Canyoneering... hiking with a wet suit :)
Are you going to try ice-climbing next ? Or have you done it ?
I went up a canyon here in San Diego on a wet hike last Saturday with some friends but we didn't do anything radical as what you did at Eaton.
Pics of every minute :) of that hike

Some friends and I are going down Eaton this Saturday. Eaton really is a blast and unlike most other San Gabriel canyons it never gets old. It's good EVERY time. It's one of those things I look forward to doing every year. If you want "intense" canyoneering you need to go to Utah however. I just got back. Didn't get to do all the canyons we wanted but had a good time none-the-less.

Yeah, Zion would be nice. When you go to Eaton and do the second to last jump (as seen in pic) and come across a diamond earring let me know. My stupidity for wearing them....but they are my lucky ones i have worn on every climb. oh well, something to ask for on my bday i guess.
Question for you Rick, you have done Rim2Rim2Rim, what was your time? I want to plan a trip in October.
thanks.

Yes, I did R2R2R just before the Skyline 3x. My R2R2R time was 16 hrs 17 mins (departing from So Kaibab TH and returning via Bright Angel).

That's some pretty grand canyoneering.

Have you been taking lessons from Hiking Jim? Perhaps not -- I don't see any fish or rock references

Well, just don't get stuck in a rut.
