Dripping Springs Trail 2/11
Seeing the dusting of snow on Agua Tibia Mountain this morning, I just had to check it out. So up I went. The trail starts at about 1500 ft. At about 3400 ft. the first little patches of snow appeared. Soon the ground was pretty well covered, and the manzanitas looked really pretty with their branches decked out in snow.I saw all kinds of animal tracks in the snow - rabbit, deer, some rodent, and something that looked like small cat prints, maybe a bobcat. When I got to the top at 4500 ft. the snow on the trees was melting so it seemed as though it was "raining" under the trees. The view was great with the valley below in a patchwork of shadows and sunlight made by the clouds. The big mountains (San J, San G etc.) were hidden by clouds.
When I got back down to the bottom I signed out at the register, and the guy that I saw on the trail had left a comment in the comment column: "Mountain lions at the streambed!" - Yikes!
When I got back home there was a box on my porch. My new snowshoes arrived a day early!
Is anyone going tramshoeing on Sunday that wouldn't mind dragging me along? I need a buddy!
